Describe how you work in a team.

In a team, I lead by example while encouraging my peers. I am a very punctual person and always the first person at the court, with my shoes on ready to play. Any time a teammate is in their head, I do my best to uplift them so the negativity doesn’t spread throughout the team.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

My two athletic highlights are being named team captain for my club team (U15) and receiving the Rookie Of The Year award for my junior varsity high school volleyball team as an underage. I was honoured with the privilege of wearing the tape on my jersey. I won’t forget the moment my coach pulled me aside and told me she wanted me to be team captain. It was great to know that they saw leadership qualities in me.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

My interests outside of sports include cooking, reading, spending time with family, fishing, and working out. The time I spend with my family and in the gym are crucial to my mental and physical health. All of these interests help me clear my mind and help me reach my goals.

Who are your role models and why?

I have three people in my life whom I admire, as they motivate me to become the best version of myself.

Firstly, Charrite Lupur. She proves the stereotype that you don’t need to be six feet to be a D1 outside hitter. She is a very ambitious and strong woman, and I strive to be like her.

Secondly, my auntie Jill. She had played collegiate volleyball back in the day for the Red Deer Queens, and she is the reason that I started this sport. She taught me all the basics on how to pass from hitting to diving. The first time she handed me a volleyball, I knew that this sport was something I wanted to pursue for my college career.

Lastly, my mom. She is the strongest person I know. My dad works away and she works very hard to make sure my siblings and I are at all our activities on time. She guides and encourages me with my future aspirations, but more importantly, to be a good human.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I am involved in three other sports, other than volleyball: track and field, golf, and softball. They are all important to me because they keep me mentally awake during my volleyball off season and build my overall athleticism. I also learn different team dynamics and build unique friendships with girls from other sport. These all play an integral role in the development of my volleyball career.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

Some academic highlights I had were earning Honor Roll three years in a row: 2023, 2024, 2025. I worked very hard to receive these awards. Countless late, lots of studying, and putting in extra work.I felt very proud of myself when I received all three of them, particularly the past year. I work extremely hard to see my name on that list. I was happy to know that my hard work paid off.

What program would you like to attend in school?

When I enter post-secondary studies, I would love to attend a health sciences, Neuroscience, or Biology program to become a neurologist. I have been looking at this career since I was about 13 years old. The human brain has always intrigued me, the way it influences our everyday lives and our actions. My great-grandma died from a stroke about 7 years ago, and I want to help people who have had previous strokes and prevent strokes from happening again.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I reminisce about my college life, with me pursuing volleyball as a student athlete, studying Neuroscience, Health Science, or Biology in post-secondary. Developing my skills on the courts as well as in the classroom would be my priority. This would include continuing my dedication to a healthy lifestyle of good nutrition and working out.
