Describe how you work in a team with your partners.
Working in a group/team setting has always been a strength of mine. While on the court, I believe each person has their own role and I always try my best to fill mine. I enjoy seeing my teammates succeed, which causes me to be very supportive and reliable on the court. Communication is a huge part of a group/team, and I always try to be vocal during games. I believe it is important to build positive relationships on and off the court, bonding with my team in different parts of each others lives is extremely beneficial to us while playing.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
Winning NOSSA was a very rewarding achievement. After battling with one of the toughest teams in the league, we came out on top. I remember feeling extremely proud of my team as we had done so well over the regular season and had become a family.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Some of my other interests outside of sports are fashion and design, as well as makeup. When I have free time I enjoy coming up with new outfits, and trying out new makeup looks. Especially with my friends. I also like spending time outdoors, whether it is camping or even the occasional hike.
Who are your role models and why?
My biggest role model is my older sister. She is a big influence to me because in high school she always worked hard and got good grades, while still keeping up with volleyball and her social life. After watching her play club volleyball for a year I realized that was the sport I wanted to play. Although she is no longer a competitive athlete, she still has a huge impact on me and is always there for me when I need her.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
When the indoor season is over, I begin to compete and train in beach volleyball. I enjoy doing the VSE League that is based in North Bay, as well as the occasional OVA Beach Tournament. I believe it is important to take part in other activities and sports so I can stay active throughout the off season.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
I have not received any notable academic achievements, but I always work hard for my grades and I feel extremely proud when my work pays off.
What program would you like to attend in school?
I am very interested in Criminal Justice and Law, but I continue to take a variety of classes in school where I am able to take multiple career paths if I choose something different.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I envision my life in university/college to be super busy, but also filled with meeting new people. I see myself working hard to keep up my grades, while still balancing my life outside of school. I also envision myself hopefully attending a school where I am able to continue playing volleyball at a competitive level.
