Describe how you work in a team with your partners.
I work very cohesively with my teammates as both a leader and a listener. My values as a teammate consist of consideration for everyone’s thoughts and opinions, and encouragement to be a stronger player on and off the court.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
I have always enjoyed nature. For me, this usually means nature walks, bird feeding, or animal museums. I have even had a job at the African Lion Safari for a couple years as it allowed me to be around animals and wildlife all day long.
Who are your role models and why?
My role model is Sophie Bukovec. She is extremely talented and hardworking, and I believe she embodies what it means to be an athlete. Not only does she train to achieve her goals, but she also makes time to give back to the younger generation of athletes by providing coaching with her organization, The Northern Elite. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be coached by her and enjoyed every second of her practices. She is such a kind, and genuine person, which only makes it easier for myself and others to admire her.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
I play soccer for my high school team, and have played it for the Dundas Soccer League in previous years. I enjoy playing sports other than volleyball because it keeps me more well rounded as an athlete. If you are constantly working out one body part for a sport, it becomes easier for that muscle to wear out. In addition, it is important to play multiple sports to keep multiple brain functions sharp such as reaction time.
What program would you like to attend in school?
For my post secondary education I am looking to study about the human body, and ways it can be enhanced by nutrition, or specified therapy. This may consist of kinesiology, athletic therapy, food and nutrition, or biology and psychology.
