Describe how you work in a team.
In a team environment I like to lead by example in both attitude and effort. I am positive and cheer for every point as loud as I can. I give my 100% effort for every point I play in, drill I do, and volleyball I touch.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
15U Premier Bugarski Cup – Gold – This was our last OVA tournament before the provincial championships and winning would secure us the ranking of 1st in the province and a #1 seeding. Our entire team was playing our best volleyball of the season and having so much fun all day long. I had been working hard all season and at this tournament I was playing my best. When we won I was so happy and proud of the team but also of myself because all my hard work and dedication paid off. I was also thrilled and excited to see what the future held playing at this new level of excellence and having so much fun doing it.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Outside of sports I really enjoy cooking, baking, and reading. I love these activities because they are very calming. I love to cook and bake lots of new things as well as learn to make family recipes. I also love reading because you get to escape into a new reality and adventure.
Who are your role models and why?
From a young age I have always looked up to Melissa Humana- Paredes for a few reasons. She has such a high energy on the court and looks like she is genuinely having so much fun playing. She is also a strong Canadian, female volleyball player who used to play at the club I play for, Storm Volleyball.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
Rep Soccer- Barrie Soccer Club 2016-2021
Girl Guides of Canada 2014-2017
Flag Football CCPS 2022
Cooksmart Weekly Program (Cooking/Baking classes)
In 2016 and 2017, I played rep soccer, Rep volleyball, and did Girl Guides. This was very important for my development as a student, athlete, and person because form a young age it taught me the importance of being organized, responsible and having good time management skills. I was also exposed to many coaching/leadership styles, which allowed me to develop respect for various perspectives.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
Gr. 8 Top Academic- I spent all ten years of elementary school at the same place. I gained very close friendships and become close with the teachers and other staff. When I won the top academic award at grad I was first so excited because I had worked really hard to keep my grades up as a student- athlete. I now look back on that moment and think what a great way to end such an amazing journey.
What program would you like to attend in school?
At this point, I am interested in a career in social sciences, but have not yet decided which program I would like to pursue.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
