Describe how you work in a team.
I work in a team by building on to other peoples positive energy and encouraging my teammates to do so. I believe that close teams are winning teams. Bonds between teammates promote confidence, collaboration and communication. I demonstrate these values on and off the court.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
My favourite athletic highlight was receiving the OVA Award of Excellence from my coaches at the 2023 Provincial Championships.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
I enjoy spending time outdoors like camping and canoe tripping. Since a young age I’ve been going to summer camps and camping with my family. I like camping because I spend time with friends and family while being in the outdoors.
Who are your role models and why?
My mom is my biggest role model. My mom and I only share a few interests but she strives to be a good person and she makes a positive impact on many people each day. The commitment my mom makes to drive me to practice and tournaments is amazing and her dedication to me doesn’t go unnoticed.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
In the off-season I work in the quality assurance lab in the Kawartha Dairy ice cream factory. Although this is not a sport I am fascinated with all aspects of my job as a quality assurance tech and I would like to study food science after high school.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
My favourite academic highlight was not an award but an experience. Over the summer before the 11th grade I travelled to St Andrews, New Brunswick to study marine biology. We did lab experiments with live marine creatures and dissected animals that I wouldn’t have access to otherwise. I had never felt such passion for academics until I had learned in this environment alongside other biology lovers.
What program would you like to attend in school?
In University I would like to study food sciences with an end goal of working as a quality technician or product development.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I grew up on a farm in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. In University I would like to maintain the neighbourly vibe and friendliness while also experiencing more diversity then before.
