Describe how you work in a team.
I make it a point to be a good communicator with Coaches and Teammates. This includes being positive, supportive and both offering and receiving constructive feedback to maximize our potential operating within a Team. Practice or game, I strive to set a good example by having a strong work ethic.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
Being honored with the OVA Award of Excellence the past two seasons are personal highlights. To be recognized for who I am as a person and Teammate is and would always give me the greatest feeling of accomplishment.
Winning the High School City Championship last year in a loud, hostile, packed gymnasium against a formidable opponent was an exciting and proud moment for myself and my team.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Outside of sports I enjoy the company of friends, family and my dogs. I also enjoy music. I have musicians in my family and our home has a variety of instruments which has influenced my appreciation for different styles of music.
Who are your role models and why?
My old Gymnastics (Tumbling) Coach Dan and my Dad are two role models of mine that have helped me be confident in myself, to not be afraid to make mistakes, instead be resilient and learn from them.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
I was a Provincial Champion in Tumbling and also played hockey for 4 years. When Covid resulted in my tumbling program to close I took up the sport of volleyball which has been my primary focus for the past 3 years.
Tumbling is an individual sport that shaped my drive for improvement and knowledge. It is a sport that encourages self discipline, awareness and confidence. It has contributed to forming my calm disposition, my desire to play in big moments and ability to respond well in times of adversity and failure.
Hockey was a team sport that stressed communication, trust and teamwork.
Both sports have been key to help shape the volleyball athlete and person I am becoming.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
I have been an Annual Honor Roll student and my proudest achievements thus far has been excelling in Mathematics. I won the Math award in Grade 8 and continue to do well in High School.
What program would you like to attend in school?
I have on narrowed the program I would like to pursue as of yet. I do have interest in Engineering with my math skills as well as Health Sciences.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I envision a full schedule of training, studies and developing life-long friendships with fellow students, athletes, coaches and educators. I cannot wait!
