Describe how you work in a team.
Team morale is very important to me. In a team, I work to ensure I am taking action in the role of being the best teammate I can be. I attend every practice and workout that is provided for my team, along with extra work on my own time. I provide an uplifting, encouraging, and positive energy to my team on the court. A positive but intense attitude in a team is a crucial component to a strong team bond. I am always open to constructive criticism, opinions, and advice from my teammates and coaches!

High school ski racing MVP 2024
High school January athlete of the month 2024

When I was presented with these athletic achievements, I felt humbled and grateful to be recognized. I felt as though my hard work had paid off. I felt as though I had contributed to my team I a positive way.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
I have many interests outside of my athletic career. I love nature and being outdoors. When I am not playing volleyball, I am usually outside with my dog enjoying the weather or exploring different locations in my area. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I feel a sense of belonging with these people.
Who are your role models and why?
I am fortunate to have many role models in my life. My parents are very large role models for me. They have supported my athletic career ever since the beginning. From the first time I skied at two years old, to shagging volleyballs in my backyard while I learned how to overhand serve, my parents have been involved with my athletic career. They provided me with the foundation to become the best teammate I can be as my parents encouraged me to maintain an enthusiastic and coachable personality. I felt inspired by their athletic accomplishments and found myself following in their footsteps from an early age.
My strength and conditioning coach another role model to me as he has not only provided me with the tools I need to become a better volleyball player physically, but has also taught me what it takes to become a high performance athlete. I have learned that effort is the most crucial component to becoming a good athlete.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
I have been involved in many other sports including: ski racing, soccer, basketball, track and field clubs, gymnastics, and swimming. These sports were important to me as participating in a wide variety of sports has led me to where I am now in my athletic career. I have experimented in many sports that I did not quite find the passion for that I have for volleyball. Ski racing was a major part of my life for ten years and I have learned many lessons that I carry over to volleyball. A major transferable skill I have acquired is that of self assessment in training, and having an understanding of what I can do to enhance my skills.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
Grade 9 Honour Roll – 2022
Grade 9 Physical Education award – 2022
Grade 10 Top Ten Academic Achievement award – 2023
Grade 10 Physical Education Award – 2023
When I received these academic achievements, I felt a sense of pride. I care deeply about my academics and strive for the best understanding of concepts and put forth full effort in all products of work. I felt as though my hard work has paid off. I also felt as though my balance in academics and athletics was successful.
What program would you like to attend in school?
In post-secondary, I am interested in biology, chemistry, and kinesiology. I have always been interested in science related courses.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I envision my school life in post-secondary to be curious, memorable, busy, exciting, and challenging. The experience of being a student athlete at the post secondary level will be new and may impose challenges in the beginning, but I am excited and encouraged to take on the experience. I believe I will make life long memories.
