Describe how you work in a team.

On a team I adapt to others’ play styles quickly. I am able to see their needs, and as a setter one of my roles is to support others and meet their needs.
I am also generally helpful to my teammates and I take pride in making all teammates feel included.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

When I made the Team BC Regional Team for 15u I was very happy! I had been working really hard at becoming a stronger player and better setter. I felt like all my hard work was paying off. I was very proud of myself.
This past school season I had the opportunity to go from the second string setter to the starting setter. Everyone asked me if I was nervous, but I don’t really get nervous. I had such a great group of teammates that I was able to step in and play at a really hight level and have fun. It was a great experience and really built my confidence.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

I enjoy cooking, baking and camping. I love to learn the science behind how things work and I love the outdoors and nature.

Who are your role models and why?

My best friend Teagyn is very strong willed and confident. She is very thoughtful and resilient while handling problems. I can handle most problems decently well, but the way she is so powerful when she is struggling is something I really look up to.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I have played high level soccer up until recently when my focus shifted primarily to volleyball.
I am a great swimmer even though I have never swam competitively!
I’ve always enjoyed all types of games.
What I like most is having fun and learning new things. Sometimes I surprise myself with how well I do at sports or games I have never played before.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

I generally get very good grades and multiple teachers have commented on how hard I work during class.
I have taken AP classes and will continue to do that in my Grade 12 year.

What program would you like to attend in school?

I really enjoy the sciences, specifically biology. I’m looking at Marine Biology programs as one of my interests is the ocean and ocean life and ways to help it be as healthy as it can be.
I am also interested in Kinesiology as working in that field after graduation could allow me to stay more involved in sports.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I am looking for a school where I can focus on volleyball and my schooling. I am so excited to meet new people and make new friends in university!
