What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Art- I really enjoy having a way to creatively express myself. I love painting, drawing, and making things for other people. I find that being creative helps me relax and de-stress.
Music- Music has been important to me for most of my life, it is a shared interest I have with my dad. I am almost always listening to music while relaxing, working out, or doing schoolwork.
Strength training- I take a strength training class at school every year and helped my parents build a home gym. Exercise is something that helps me clear my mind and feel better about myself as well as improving my skills. I love seeing my work pay off by seeing progress on the court.
Psychology- Psychology is the field I want to go into post-secondary. I find learning why people are the way they are fascinating. I want to be a therapist so I can help people who are fighting silent battles, and because I have seen the difference therapy makes on my loved ones.
Who are your role models and why?
1. My parents, they both have supported me for my entire life and I would not be where I am without their support. They made me the teammate and person I am, they helped me through insecurity and self doubt when it comes to my sport, they helped me build my confidence on and off the court.
2. My coaches and teammates, all of the coaches I have had throughout my volleyball career have helped me learn more about the sport, myself as a player, and different team dynamics and coaching styles.
3. Some of my role models when it comes to sports are some of the girls from my local university team, I have had opportunities to be coached by them through camps and small group sessions, and watching their games has helped me learn more about the game at a higher level.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
