Describe how you work in a team.
In a team I like to make sure I am always supporting my teammates mentally as Volleyball is a very mental game. I try to encourage and give advice to my teammates as I know it can be hard to recognize where you mess up during play when you are in such an intense moment. I think my perspective from the back row as a Libero can help me give my teammates incites on themselves and the other team they may not realize. I like to take a supportive role on the field but I can still take control and instruct my teammates in the back row to make sure our defence is the best it can be.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
During my first year of playing on the Senior team at my school, I really thought we had a chance to win provincials but sadly came up short, but despite this I never stopped working hard in our matches despite when we lost the chance to get first. I entered our Bronze medal match with a lot of motivation to at least take a medal home. I fought very hard and played my best, despite some of my teammates already feeling down. When we sadly lost the match, It felt great to have my efforts seen and rewarded when the other teams coaches decided to choose me as the MVP on my team.
Getting first place in 16u Club Provincials div 3 was a very uplifting and exciting moment. The award doesn’t seem like much because it was only Div 3 but the journey getting there is what made it so special to me. The team starting out was very weak, we placed very bad in our first tournaments which caused us to be placed in div 3. But we didn’t let that stop us and continued to grow as people and players. We pushed and made it to first in the provincials and felt very accomplished of our growth and progress we made.
