Describe how you work in a team.

I take my role on the team seriously and I try to consistently give “my all” during practice and games. I feel that I am a resilient player who can stay positive on and off the court. I try to encourage my team mates to do the same.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

At the end of one of our recent tournaments, I received the Most Valuable Player award.

I was also given the Most Improved award at the end of the 2022/23 season.

2022/23 was my first year playing competitive Volleyball. I had worked hard to listen to my coaches, use their feedback and work at improving my skills. I was honoured to receive the Most Improved award at the end of the year and it motivated and inspired me to keep improving in the sport I love most.

I continue to give my all in practices and in games. Receiving the most valuable player for my team in the McGregor Cup, where we took Silver (January 2024), reinforced the importance to doing my best on the court and in my role as a team member.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

When I am not playing sports, I like to travel. I have been fortunate to travel with my family and friends, with other volunteers for the Tumaini Children’s Foundation, and with my sports teams. I love exploring new places and meeting new people.

I also love hanging out with my friends and trying new things such as new recipes.

Who are your role models and why?

Details coming

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

In addition school and club volleyball, I also play Rugby for the Brantford Collegiate Institute Varsity Girl’s Rugby team. I also enjoy riding my bike, swimming and skiing.
As I said before, I love trying new things and recently tried surfing and wake surfing (FUN!)

At school, I have also been selected to be a part of an Anti-Racism/All Inclusive student team to spread awareness and start the conversation and movement toward a more inclusive environment.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

I was the recipient of the Art Award at my Grade 8 graduation (2022). It made me feel accomplished because it recognized the hard work that I had done during my elementary school years in art, drama, dance and music.

I also received Honour Role recognition in Grade 9. It is motivating and encouraging to achieve the goals I set. I had spent a significant amount of time during my Grade 9 year in Tanzania working with the Tumaini Children’s Foundation. Achieving Honour Role was a significant accomplishment because I had to have the communication, time management, and organizational skills necessary to balance the demands of school, travel and volunteer work.

What program would you like to attend in school?

I have been working toward a Specialistic High School Major (SHSM) in Health and Wellness. Although I am not sure of my specific future career, I know that I would like to explore options within Sport, Health and Wellness. This major will give me a foundation in health and fitness, nutrition, first aid response, principles in coaching and other similar topics.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?
