Describe how you work in a team.

I love being a part of a team. I’m very supportive and uplifting towards my teammates, always cheering on those around me. I love working together with my peers towards achieving our team goals. I welcome feedback from coaches and teammates so that I can continue to improve and apply what I’ve learned on the court.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

In the 2023/24 season I received the Heart and Hustle award for my leadership and calm and supportive demeanor on and off the court. It felt great to be recognized by my coaches for all my hard work and consistent positive attitude throughout the season.

Also, in the 2023/24 my 15U team went into Canadian Nationals ranked 37th. We fell in our Provincial rankings after a tough quarter final loss at our Ontario Championships. The best possible outcome for us was D1 T3 Champions, which meant we had to go undefeated and we did it, winning all of our 9 matches. It felt amazing to work together with my teammates towards a tough goal playing on the national stage and achieving it.

In the 2022/23 season I was chosen team captain. I felt really happy to be recognized by my teammates to represent our team in a leadership role.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

Spending time with my family and friends. I love hanging out with my family and going out and being social with my friends.

I have a part time job that I love. It’s fun and provides me with extra money to spend.

I love to bake, I find it relaxing.

Who are your role models and why?

My role model is without a doubt my first volleyball coach Craig. In my opinion, having an amazing first coach can make or break your athletic experience. For me, coach Craig was a person who I’ve always looked up to. He was the best, most supportive coach and one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with the game of volleyball. I have always admired his attitude and mentality on and off the court. I constantly try my best to replicate it when speaking to my teammates or to myself. I will never forget listening to what we used to call “Coach Craig speeches” and hearing all the quotes, cheers, messages and advice he had to share, most of which have stuck with me and is what I believe is a huge part of the player and person I am today.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

Beach Volleyball
I have played with Burloak Beach Volleyball since 13U. I practice at least twice a week and play in several tournaments every summer. I love playing on the beach, it’s a great way to get lots of touches in the off-season. It’s important to me because it teaches me to be a more versatile player as I’m not tied to just one position.

Flag Football
I have played in a co-ed flag football league for the past two years. It’s important to me because I get to meet new people and make new connections outside of volleyball. I also love finding other ways of conditioning off the court.

Cross Country Running and Track and Field
I ran cross country and participated in track and field 100m, 200m and 4x100m events for 6 years.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

2023/24 Honour Roll
In Grade 9 I made the Honor Roll with an 87% average (4.0 GPA). It felt great to see all my hard work juggling volleyball (school and club), other extracurriculars and my first year of high school pay off.

What program would you like to attend in school?
