Describe how you work in a team.

I work effectively by listening actively to what others have to say. I’m reliable and willing to step up when needed, and I also communicate well.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

The athletic highlight I remember the most was when our team earned first in the province. The last point creating the moment felt so surreal, as I know that my team has worked extremely hard to get where we were. The hours we spent off the court training to show all of our skills, will never be forgotten, and that moment is a core memory for me.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

Outside of sports, I really enjoy spending time in the kitchen baking. The change of pace from volleyball to baking is something I always find myself looking for, and once I am in the space, baking desserts, it is super relaxing and calming. Mixing doughs, decorating cookies and enjoying a delicious dessert after is so rewarding, and that is why I like to bake.

Who are your role models and why?

My role model is my older sister. Before I played volleyball, it was her. I would go to her games, and trainings, and watch her work hard for endless hours. Off the court, she would spend late nights studying and working on school project, trying to reach her goal. I can see how much work she has put into everything, and I can tell how much she earns it. This is why she my role model.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I am a co-founder of the Ladder Enrichment Foundation, where myself and a couple of teammates have created this foundation to help those in need. We have visited and donated to the Calgary food bank, where we hope we can impact lives of people by giving back.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

Another one of my academic highlights, was this year, when my team got second at Nationals. Even though this was not first in Canada, I could feel us as a team working hard and fighting for something we wanted. Each point was filled with aggressiveness and passion, striving to get that ball up, then hammering it to the floor. That feeling of needing the season off with a medal, and being able to share that experience with a bunch of girls I love playing with so much, is super special to me.

What program would you like to attend in school?

I would like to attend engineering, or some sort of medical major. I enjoy taking a look at machines, finding out how they work and putting then together as the way pieces of material come together to make something so useful has always been something I am interested in. As for the medical field, I think I would really enjoy looking at diseases, and finding a way to cure them, or how they can impact humans.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I envision myself being a student athlete. I love playing volleyball and I would like to continue the sport onto varsity level if I can, and being able to do that whilst learning about a major I am passionate about sounds like the dream to me. I hope I can leave university with a strong feeling knowing what and where I will do in the future of my life.
