Athlete to Watch - Capitol Hill Washington 2025
16U Jr. Dinos Head Coach Cass Downe:
"Elle is a weapon on and off the court. Her tenacity as an offensive player and consistency when on the floor makes her a huge asset on any team. She transitions well and consistently and has a large arsenal of offensive shots making her hard to defend. She has a magical way of making those around her work hard and isn't afraid to hold her teammates and herself accountable to the team goals." -

Describe how you work in a team.
It’s important when I work with a team to encourage plus celebrate other people’s wins, show up and do my best in my role, and have fun!
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
Chosen to play for Team Alberta after I broke my ankle 8 weeks prior showed me that I have the resilience mentally and physically to overcome significant challenges that may come my way and still achieve my goals.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
I enjoy strength and conditioning, it helps me mentally to clear my mind and feel my best in my body. In the summer I enjoy surfing behind the boat, fun time with friends, and travelling with my family.
Who are your role models and why?
My mom because she overcame breast cancer, shows dedication to her family with a family first mentality, she’s kind, outgoing, and has the strength to be herself. That is inspiring to me!
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
Before I started playing volleyball, I played all the sports! Soccer, tennis, dance, gymnastics, basketball, lacrosse, swimming, fast pitch, snowboarding, and skiing. All of these helped me become the athlete I am today and I learned how to show for my team and myself.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
Every teacher I’ve had has provided feedback that I am one of their hardest working students and that I contribute to in-class discussions in meaningful ways and I am a leader in the class.
This motivates me to continue on doing the best I can!
What program would you like to attend in school?
Business or Psychology
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I see myself challenged and happy while succeeding as a student and athlete. I will have great relationships with students, teammates, coaches and teachers. I will be committed to doing my best academically, and being a leader on and off court. I will remember to ask for support when I need it and find a good balance for all that’s required of me academically and on my team.
