Describe how you work in a team with your partners.

Provide leadership, motivate others, focused on team goals, positive attitude, do whatever the coach needs me to do to help the team be successful.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

I was selected twice for team MVP and OVA Award of Excellence when I was with Sky Volley. Was also selected as Outstanding Female Athlete in my grade 8 year. I felt proud that my hard work was recognized by my coaches. Being selected as Co-Captain with my 16U South County team in my first year with the club.

Involvement in other sports or extra-curricular. Why is it important for you?

Multiple years playing soccer, basketball (current), badminton, and beach volleyball. It’s important to be involved in as many sports as possible. Making new friends, being a part of a team, overcoming obstacles and learning how to deal with disappointments are good life lessons. It teaches you the importance of hard work and dedication. I’m currently on student council, tutor two kids in grade 5, and volunteered in the summer as a beach volleyball coach for younger athletes. I love giving back and being a role model for younger athletes.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

Student Council: I like planning events and being a part of the community. I like filming and editing videos because it lets me express my creativity and it is something that I enjoy. Tutoring because I like helping others being the best version of themselves. Best Buddies program at school: get paired up with students with special needs, play games, talk, provide support when needed.

Who are your role models and why?

Melissa Humana-Paredes because she is a smaller volleyball player but she doesn’t let that stop her, she makes smart plays on court, she is determined and relentless.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them.

Outstanding student of the year, honour roll with distinction in Grade 8. Honour roll in Grade 9 with a 98% average. Felt honoured and proud of my accomplishments. Hard work is its own reward.

What program would you like to attend in school?

I’m still deciding between education or psychology. I have always believed in helping others.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

Playing OUA volleyball, building friendships/relationships, volunteering (continue giving back to my community), and working hard towards completing my degree. I would also like to coach beach volleyball in the summer.

Holy Names Secondary, Windsor, Ontario

Would like to pursue a degree in education or psychology

  • Honour Roll
  • Grade 9: 98% average
  • Grade 10: maintaining 96% average

I am a team player first. Team success is more important to me than individual success. I will play any role my coaches need me to play. I continually work on my overall game. I may be small in stature, but I have the ability to read what is happening on the court, finding myself in the right position to make a play on the ball. During my indoor off season, I train with coach Reid Hall to improve my overall strength and conditioning. I have demonstrated leadership on and off the court. Not only was I chosen as co-captain for my volleyball team, I am also involved in many leadership opportunities at my school, including student council and peer buddies. I have always believed in the importance of advocating for others, showing support for people who sometimes have no one to lean on. I also take my academics very seriously. I finished with a 98% average in my grade 9 year and currently maintain a 96% average in grade 10
