Describe how you work in a team.
I am an extremely supportive team member who pulls the best out of my teammates and team. I am willing to give 100 percent and lead through that dedication, persistence and endurance on and off the court. I make sure my teammates know I have their back and full support and that they can rely on me.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
I thoroughly enjoyed winning silver for Team BC as a middle in 2023. I enjoyed our team, the practices and awesome job we did in coming together with some solid plays as a whole. I enjoyed meeting people from different places around our province as fellow highly competitive and skilled athletes. We were silver medalists that I felt represented our region with excellence.
In 2022, I had the opportunity to play basketball for B.C. Summer Games. I loved the opening ceremony and how honouring it was to be amongst that elite group of athletes. We were awarded the bronze medal after some great games and I was proud to be bringing the bronze medal home.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
I like spending time with friends and family. I enjoy working out and strength training as well as outdoor hiking, swimming and more. We live in a beautiful area and I like to explore it.
Who are your role models and why?
My role models are my parents and coaches. My dad is a Kelowna firefighter and my mom is a registered nurse. They both have achieved great success in their fields and have a high work ethic. They also encourage me to put in my best effort. My coaches teach and motivate me and push us to get the best out. As well, Tristan Simmonds is an athlete and trainer who helped me out with my vertical and strength training. He played university volleyball, runs Ironmans and helps coach the Paralympic volleyball team. To not only play well but turn around and help others is really incredible.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
I like to play anything with a ball and find myself playing baseball, basketball, spike ball, or volleyball wherever friends are gathered and whatever the season. It’s fun to play and to play with friends.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
I have been on the Principal’s List (highest honour) in middle school and since then have been an honour student.
What program would you like to attend in school?
I would like to pursue a degree in either business or finance.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I envision my school life in university to be very memorable and successful. I look forward to excelling both in studies and the sport that I am passionate about. I look forward to learning new things, meeting new people in coaches, teammates and new friends. I also look forward to working with people with the same drive and determination to do well in high-level sports, and in particular, in volleyball.
