Describe how you work in a team.

I’m the type of teammate who thrives on energy and connection. I’m always quick to lift the mood, whether it’s celebrating every point or bringing everyone together in the middle of the court for a huddle. I love leading by example and making sure everyone feels supported, whether I’m on the court or cheering from the bench. I focus on building team spirit and keeping everyone motivated, ensuring team unity.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

One of my proudest accomplishments was being named Team Captain for my high school volleyball team. It meant a lot to be recognized as a leader by both my coaches and teammates (people who know me both in and out of volleyball), and it pushed me to lead by example on and off the court. Most recently, I was honored to receive the MVP award for the season. Earning this recognition made me feel incredibly grateful and proud! Both grateful for the support of my team and coaches, and proud of the hard work, consistency, and passion I’ve put into improving my game. These moments have motivated me even more to keep growing as a player and a teammate.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

Outside of volleyball, I love spending time with my friends, traveling, and creating art. Being with friends helps me relax and keeps me grounded, they’re a big part of my support system. I also really enjoy traveling because I love experiencing new places, cultures, and perspectives. It helps me grow as a person and reminds me to stay curious. Art is another passion of mine because it allows me to express myself creatively and unwind from the fast pace of sports and school.

Who are your role models and why?

My role model is my older brother. Watching him grow through his own athletic journey has taught me the importance of discipline, perseverance, and humility. He never gave up, even when things got tough, and he always pushed himself to be better, not just for his team, but for himself. He inspires me to train harder, stay focused, and be a supportive teammate. His dedication motivates me to give 100% both on and off the court, and I hope to lead by example the way he always has for me.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

Being involved in badminton, track, student council, charity work, and band has played a big role in shaping who I am, both as an athlete and as a person.

Each activity has taught me something different: badminton and track have helped improve my speed, agility, and endurance; student council has strengthened my leadership and communication skills; charity work has kept me grounded and taught me the value of giving back; and band and other sports have helped me stay disciplined and focused.

I believe that all of these experiences make me a stronger, more well-rounded teammate and competitor.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

2023-2024 Honour Roll
2023-2024 Minister of Spirit
2023 Graduate with Honours
2023 Ontario Principals Leadership Award
2023 JM Award (school involvement)

Finding a balance between school, athletics, and work has always been a priority for me. No matter the challenges or obstacles, I’ve always made it a point to put my best foot forward. I believe I’ve been successful in maintaining that balance, as reflected in the recognition when I received the Ontario Principals’ Award. The kind words shared about me when I received this specific award affirmed that my dedication, character, and the person I strive to be are all leading me in the right direction.

What program would you like to attend in school?

I plan to attend a university with a strong aviation program, as I’ve dreamed of becoming a pilot for as long as I can remember. I took my first flight at age 10 and it confirmed what I had been dreaming about. I’m looking for a program that will challenge me academically while also allowing me to compete at a high level in volleyball. My goal is to succeed both in the skies and on the court.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I envision my college life as a balance between my passion for volleyball and my commitment to academic success in aviation. I’m a hardworking, driven student-athlete who thrives in both team environments and the classroom. Volleyball has taught me discipline, resilience, and leadership. All qualities I bring into my studies as I pursue a future in aviation. I’m excited to grow as both a player and a student, making the most of every opportunity that comes my way.
