Athlete Bio

Five words you can use to describe yourself as a high performance athlete.

• Coachable
• Motivated
• Persistent
• Competitive
• Passionate

Five words you can use to describe yourself off your field of play.

• Sociable
• Humble
• Witty
• Trustworthy
• Leader

Describe how you work in a team.

I always focus on bettering myself and my teammates because when one of us doesn’t have our head in the game none of us do. I try to use positive energy both on and off the court and during practices to create a positive atmosphere for my team. I try to lead by example by playing for my team rather than playing for myself and supporting my teammates who need extra help when I can. When we play a game, I use positive communication with my teammates while also reassuring them when we lose a point or make a mistake.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

Every athletic achievement and award I have ever gotten has made me feel really proud of myself. There isn’t one award that I think is better than the other because I worked hard for all of them. I felt honoured to be recognized by my coaches/teammates for the hard work I put in.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

My interests outside of sports are listening to music, reading, and working out. I like to listen to music because of how it makes me feel. Sometimes it helps me focus when I need to, but it also makes me feel energized before big games or tournaments. I like reading because it helps me be more creative and helps me relax. When I read, I like to visualize what is going on which helps my creativity. Working out is my favourite interest because I like working on being stronger and more competitive.

Who are your role models and why?

My role models are my family and each one of them inspires me in different ways. My mom inspires me to never give up and always do my best. My dad inspires me to be the best that I can be and always fight for what I want. My sister inspires me to think outside of the box and try new things.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I like being involved in other sports, especially in school. Being in extra sports helps me make new friends, find people with similar interests, and keeps me active. Ever since I was young I have always loved sports because they make me happy. I love how I feel when competing with other athletes and working with them. I think it is good to surround myself with people who are like me which is why being in other sports is important to me.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

Since I am only in Grade 8 I still have time to receive more academic highlights. But the two academic highlights I can think of are Honour Roll and when I got asked to enter a math competition last year because I got a 97% in math. I was really proud of myself when I got Honour Roll and I liked getting recognition for all of my hard work in school. When I found out that I got a 97% in math and my teacher asked me to enter in a math competition I was so excited. I felt really happy that my math grade was noticed so much by my teacher that she thought I was good enough to go against the other top students.

What program would you like to attend in school?

As of right now, I am interested in going into the medical field to be an anesthesiologist or going into sports medicine.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

When I envision myself in university I see myself playing sports and competing with other athletes who are just like me. I also see myself studying with other students who have similar interests as me and making lots of new friends.
