Athlete Bio

Five words you can use to describe yourself as a high performance athlete.
  • Competitive
  • Coachable
  • Hardworking
  • Determined
  • Involved
Five words you can use to describe yourself off your field of play.
  • Social
  • Organized
  • Ambitious
  • Optimistic
  • Open minded
Describe how you work in a team.

I try and adjust my approach depending on my partnership because everyone needs and expects something different from their partner. The key is to be always attentive to your teammate’s needs and how they want certain things to be done. Above all, communication is key! Taking the time to talk through different spheres of the games is the best way to enhance a partnership.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

Winning Quebec Summer Games:
The Quebec Summer Games is the province’s biggest sporting event for youth athletes. For me, just getting the chance to compete in the event felt surreal, playing in the title game was out of this world. Being on the court playing in front of hundreds of people was one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. It felt like all of my sacrifices and my hard work was paying off.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

I love traveling and visiting new places. Learning about a new environment and culture is something that interests me a lot. It makes me think and I always feel like a little piece of me is growing from what I just visited. I love that!

Who are your role models and why?

My beach volleyball role model is Team Canada Defender, Melissa Humana-Paredes.
First of all, I love the grit and the energy she brings to the court, always fighting to make the best contact on every ball.
Second of all, her read of the game sets her apart and makes her capable of saving amazing balls in defense and converting them offensively by finding open space on the court.

My non-volleyball idol is my mom. She always does everything in her power to make the people around her feel good and she’s always there to support my brother and myself through all our achievements. I aspire to be like her when I grow up.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

I believe that it is super important to involve ourselves in other things than just volleyball. Putting our mind to something different once in a while is an amazing way to decentralize our focus and, in consequence, reduce our stress and worries caused by our main sport.

Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?

Winning the Madeleine-Brochu Price:
The Madeleine-Brochu Price is similar to being named Valedictorian, but it’s awarded to three people. It got the chance to win that award twice. Hearing that you’re named for a title like this is truly amazing. All the work put in to be the best student in and out of the class feels so rewarding. Out of hundreds of students, it feels insane to be the one selected for such an award. So grateful!

What program would you like to attend in school?

I would love to study something in the fields of health, sciences or mathematics. These three subjects have always been my favorites to learn and talk about! Also, I would love to combine them with a job in the sport industry in the future.

How do you envision your school life in college/university?

I envision my life in university as a huge learning experience. Everything I’ll get to do and learn is going to be new to me and I want to take them all in to help me in the future. Enjoying every moment, because you don’t get this opportunity twice!
