Describe how you work in a team.
Something I really value on a team is my personal connections and relationships with my teammates. As an observant person I notice things in my teammates that other people may not see right away, which allows me to hype them up in a way they may not have heard before. I believe that complimenting those special things about people allows them to feel special and build a stronger connection between my teammate and I. On a team, I lead by example to create a competitive environment. I am always hardworking, encouraging and determined to get the best out of what I am doing.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
Details coming
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Outside of sports, I love to hangout with my family and friends because I love having company and spending time with people I love. One of my favourite things to do is to cook/bake meals with my friends because I love trying new things and experimenting with different recipes.
Who are your role models and why?
My role models are definitely my parents because everyday they show me the person I want to be when I grow up. They are hardworking, kind, caring and are always pushing me to be the best version of myself.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
At school my favourite class is gym because I get to play sports that I don’t play outside of school. It’s important to me because it helps me grow my athleticism and diversity, but is also fun to play around with sports I’m not serious about with my friends. At school, I am apart of the Student Athletic Association, where I help set up and run school athletic events that build the school community and get more students involved. This is especially important to me because I am personally contributing to bettering my highschool experience.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
In Grade 10 I received a 98% in my science class which felt very rewarding. Having science last period meant I would have to miss a lot of class for both early school volleyball games as well as missing for rep tournaments. However, I managed my time, stayed responsible for my work and managed to get the highest grade in the class despite my absences, which I am proud of.
What program would you like to attend in school?
I would like to go to University for Cognitive Sciences / Psychology / Neuroscience.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
In university, I see myself balancing volleyball, school and friendships because all are very important to me. I can see myself being very organized with good time management, goal setting and prioritization.
