Five words you can use to describe yourself off your field of play.
  • Smart
  • Focused
  • Organized
  • Ambitious
  • Collaborative
Describe how you work in a team.

I support my teammates throughout all of our games and encourage everybody through rough patches. I like bonding with all of my teammates on and off the court, as I believe it creates a very strong connection while we play.

Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:

When I received the OVA Award of Excellence two years in a row, I felt extremely happy. These awards made me feel very accomplished, as I had been working extremely hard prior to receiving these awards. In the team I was in during this, I was definitely the hardest working athlete. I was doing multiple private sessions a week, apart from team practices, as well as practicing at home everyday and going to the gym.

What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?

Outside of sports, I love painting and drawing, as well as cooking and baking. I like visual arts as it allows me to let go as it has no rules, unlike volleyball. On the other hand, I love volleyball because of its rules, it gives the game structure. Cooking and baking gives me the opportunity to bond with my family and friends. The products of my baking also produce many gift-giving opportunities.

Who are your role models and why?

My parents are my role models. Seeing how hard they work for our family is truly inspiring. Moving a lot really early in my life gave me the opportunity to experience many different cultures and learn what makes everybody different. Seeing them fight for my brother and I has given me the strength to keep working and really make it far. I have to thank my parents for supporting me throughout this entire experience, for I would not be who I am now without them.

Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?

Throughout my childhood, I played multiple sports, and they are a huge part of my life. The sports I mainly played were rugby, baseball, and dance. These sports were my main source of exercise as well as introduced me to many of my friends. It is extremely important to me to be a part of a community, which is why I love playing sports so much.
