- Easy-going
- Independent
- Resourceful
Describe how you work in a team.
In a team, I work collaboratively with all of my teammates. In the end, my team has the same goals as me, winning. Working independently in volleyball would never work but, being supportive and kind to my teammates is what I think makes a great culture where everyone feels welcomed, and can play their absolute best. Overall, I would say I am a leader but I am very supportive and love to watch my teammates succeed.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
AB Lucas girls volleyball captain (2021-2022)
13th in the province with London Sharks (2019)
Chosen for all star game at TVDSB (2019)
Northridge PS girls volleyball captain (2018-2019)
Through all of these accomplishments I have felt very proud of myself for my hard work and determination. Pushing myself hard during practice (first one on the court, last one off), to reach goals I had set for myself. These accomplishments show that with the right mindset “you can do anything you put your mind too.” To me, anything is possible if you put the work in.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
Cooking and Baking
I have loved to cook and bake ever since I was a kid! Growing up, I watched baking shows that sparked my love for cooking and baking. Some of my favourite dishes to make are goat cheese burgers, lemon chicken and rice and, homemade chicken noodle soup!
Working out
Outside of everything, working out is one of my favourite things outside of volleyball. It releases all of my stress with school, and sports leaving me feel great. This year starting ASAD, I have never felt better going to school after finishing my morning workout!
Hanging out with friends
I love hanging out with my friends in my spare time when I have no volleyball or homework. At the start I found it quite difficult to balance friends, school and volleyball but, with good scheduling it became very do-able!
Who are your role models and why?
My role model is Brandie Wilkerson. She has been my role model for years, and years. She is my role model because how far she has came in her volleyball, especially with her height as an undersized blocker! To me, I think it is so cool that the shortest blocker for Team Canada, and got blocker of the year in 2018!
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
Involvement in other sports to me is very important. Playing sports is such a fun thing for me, experimenting with new sports that I have never played before. This year for my school, I have decided to also join my badminton team. I know that in the start I may not be as good as I am hoping but, for me this is just for the fun of it. To me, sports in general are primarily for fun!
What program would you like to attend in school?
The program I would love to take in school is dentistry. My end of the road goal is to become an orthodontist. But, before dentistry my undergrad I would like to take is Biology or some type of science.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I envision University to be one of my most memorable times in my life. Although it may come with challenges, I am ready to take on anything. During university, my hope is to have a good volleyball, school and social balance to make these university years the best I can!
