Describe how you work in a team.
I believe teamwork is the most important factor in a successful team. So, I work on creating a positive atmosphere and encourage my teammates as well as myself to but in maximum effort and focus while we’re on the court. I make sure that I trust all my teammates to make the smartest decisions on the court and strive for success.
Athletic highlights and how you felt when you received them:
When I win medals and when I got into TORP, I felt really accomplished, but it also made me feel like I wanted to work even harder and get even better for the next tournament and the next program.
What are your interests outside of sports? Why do you like them?
I do kayaking provincially in the summer because it helps clear my mind and gain a lot of strength in my upper-body. In 2020, I won gold in Provincials for the 200m race, and since then I’ve continued to practice and train throughout the year for the next competition.
Who are your role models and why?
My parents are role models for me because they work so hard to let me be able to explore and attend so many extracurriculars and they are able to support me and my brother.
Involvement in other sports or extracurricular. Why is it important for you?
I do piano, percussion and kayaking year round where I continue to develop skills and this is important to me because it makes me a more well rounded person who has many skills and knowledge in different areas that I can use in the future.
Academic highlights and how you felt when you received them?
I got into provincials this year for DECA, and since it was my first time, me and my partner were ecstatic because as Grade 9’s it was harder to get into. We felt really deserving of this honour because of the hours and hours of dedication and passion we put into succeeding.
What program would you like to attend in school?
I would hopefully like to attend engineering in school or biomedical engineering in the future.
How do you envision your school life in college/university?
I envision the first year to be tough, but I’ll be resilient and eventually with my diligence, be able to achieve some academic achievement while being able to play on the volleyball team of whichever university I end up going to.
